With my husband, Adolfo, and our sons at home in Palo Alto.
My Background
Professionally, I've built my career around solving complex problems analytically and collaboratively. I lectured at Stanford Graduate School of Business, led strategy and operations for Stanford's MBA Program Office, and directed the Stanford Public Management Program. Earlier in my career I worked in internet product management and management consulting. I hold a BS in Biology and an MBA with a Certificate in Public Management, both from Stanford.
Ready for City Council
My years on the Planning and Transportation Commission have given me a clear sense of what Palo Alto needs right now: practical leadership, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to transparency and long-term thinking. I'm ready to bring my insight and experience to City Council.

I'm Bryna Chang, and Palo Alto has been my home almost my entire life.
I grew up here — attending Nixon Elementary, JLS Middle School, and Gunn High School — and today my husband, Adolfo, and I are raising our two sons in the Midtown neighborhood of South Palo Alto. This community has given me so much, and serving it has been one of the great privileges of my adult life.
Serving Palo Alto
Since 2021, I've served on the Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission, including two terms as Chair and two as Vice Chair. It's been demanding, rewarding work as I have helped guide the city through complex decisions on housing, transportation, and development. This has given me a deep, firsthand understanding of both the challenges and the opportunities ahead.
Before the commission, I spent years volunteering in our schools and community organizations — on site councils and PTA leadership at Nixon, JLS, and Gunn, coaching Little League, and serving six years on the board of Silicon Valley Boychoir. I've also contributed to regional efforts including the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District's Hawthorns Area Public Access Working Group, and done pro-bono work with organizations ranging from Tanzania National Parks to Monterey Bay Aquarium.

"I support Bryna Chang for Palo Alto City Council because of her extensive experience and background. She is a life-long Palo Altan and has served on our Planning and Transportation Commission for five years. During her time on the Commission she has demonstrated fiscal responsibility, deep understanding of the interconnectedness of the city and schools, partnership with Safe Routes to School, and has been a strong advocate for safety for our children. "
